How we do things at Learner Me

Life at Learner Me is quite different to life at school or traditional tertiary institutions. The best way to think of it is like a training apprenticeship at a tech firm.
It’s purposeful and intensive. It’s engaging and collaborative. It’s up-to-date and on-the-job. So, every day when you come to Learner Me, there’s a sense of excitement to learn new things and do epic work.
We’re here to help you become an innovative, self-motivated and resilient IT professional, ready to hit the ground running as you enter the tech workforce or start your own business.
Before
Starting

When can I sign up? Most of our programmes can be started at any time throughout the year with key in-take dates syncing up with the school terms.

Career Pathway Meeting: Before you start your programme, you’ll meet with a Student Support Coordinator for a 1-hour chat to go through your goals, likes, dislikes, and past study and experience in order to tailor your Learner Me programme.

Info Pack: Before commencing studies at Learner Me, you’ll be given an info pack with all the administrative information you’ll require to maximise your time at Learner Me.

Orientation: In your first day of studying at Learner Me you will meet with our Student Support Coordinator who will give you a full orientation of the campus, meet the team and your fellow students, and get you started on your learning.

As you study: Throughout your time at Learner Me, our student learning dashboard will provide you with up-to-date and accurate information about your progress.

Oversight: As an NZQA-accredited and industry-approved training provider, one of our commitments to you is that Learner Me meets all its obligations in relation to external agencies.
Learner Me
Campus
The Learner Me campus forms part of the HQ whānau of businesses at 127 Gill Street, New Plymouth.
HQ businesses include Proformac Technologies, Opportuna CA, Branding HQ, Wellness HQ and App HQ. So, every day, you’ll be brushing shoulders and working alongside industry professionals and their clients.
HQ is a busy place full of activity and driven people wanting to make a difference in our community. So, we expect you to join us in building this culture of collaborative innovation and professionalism.
Learner Me is open from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, closed at weekends and public holidays and typically for two weeks over the Christmas/New Year break.

Support
Your mental, physical and spiritual health is incredibly important to us. So, at Learner Me, you’ll have full pastoral care to lean on throughout your learning journey.

We have an open-door policy for anyone who needs to talk to someone.

There is additional support for learners with a disability or health matter.

We can refer our learners to outside agencies for additional support.
Learner Me is committed to being safe, fair and inclusive for all our staff and students. We don’t accept or tolerate harassment or bullying. If you witness or are subject to behaviour that is dangerous or makes you feel unsafe, please call 111. Transportation

Bikes & Walking: Being so central and so close to the Coastal Walkway, we’re a great location to bike or walk to.

Bus: We’re just a block away from several bus stops and a 10-minute walk up Gill Street from New Plymouth’s Bus Centre. Click here for route.

Parking: Although we have a short-term car park at 127 Gill St, please help us keep this clear for clients and customers of HQ and Proformac Technologies. There is plenty of on-street parking located all around us. To find out more, please click the "Parking Map" button.
